Sightseeing Tours- Vienna’s Highlights and Schönbrunn Palace, 5.2.2010

Starting at the famous Ringstraße – the boulevard of Vienna, we show you numerous magnificent buildings, such as the State Opera House, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Natural History Museum, the cultural district of the MuseumsQuartier, the former Habsburg winter residence - the Hofburg, the Parliament, the City Hall and the Burgtheater.

The highlight of this tour will be a visit of the Schönbrunn Palace.

Schönbrunn (meaning “beautiful fountain”) represents one of the most important pieces of Austria´s cultural heritage. Maria Theresia lived in this former summer residence of the Habsburg family.
Experience a walk through the splendid imperial apartments of the Habsburg family.

Each and every room, every hallway has their own story to tell – stories that are characteristic for the way of live and the atmosphere of imperial times.

Guided Technical Tours

Technical tours to various congress relevant sites in Vienna
and its surroundings will complement the envietech2010 Congress
and Exhibition Programme. Four different bus tours
will feature specific applications of environmental technology
and renewable energy to offer an on-site insight into modern
communal waste management and exploitation of renewable
energy sources. On the way to the destinations experts and
skilled tour guides provide valuable information and explain
Vienna’s environmental strategies.


You are welcome to join the following bus tours:

Tour 1: Thermal waste treatment

Guided tour to the high-tech waste treatment plant „Pfaffenau“
in Simmering, as well as the Biogas Vienna.



Tour 2: Low energy and zero-energy buildings

Guided tour and presentation of selected objects in Vienna
(houses, schools) and Vienna´s most efficient and government-
funded biomass-heating-plant.


Tour 3: Water management in a large city

Guided tour through the controll-center of the vienna water
management, visit of the drinking-water supply plant Mauer.


Tour 4: Examples of efficient environmental
technologies and use of modern financing systems (Vienna bathhouses)

Guided tour and presentation of selected bathhouses and
demonstration of used energy efficient technologies and
cost-effective financing.


Shuttle-Bus:

Busses will leave from the main entrance of ACV at 1:30pm. The
Technical Tours will take approximately 3 hours. The four different
tours are run in parallel so that only one tour can be
booked per person.
