Session 2: "More Success by Radical Innovation"
Since 2007 for the first time in the history of mankind more humans are living in urban areas than in rural areas. The metropolises of the future are thus searching feverishly for intelligent solutions in favour of the development of ecologically-oriented construction and infrastructure sectors. In this context it is increasingly important that the innovations made by environmental technology enterprises will achieve market maturity as soon as possible and contribute to the solution of ecological problems in towns and regions. Particularly important are radical innovations which lead to new products and solutions to clarify for the towns of the future the topics of water and energy supply, waste management, and wastewater disposal. Therefore first and foremost competences in the fields of potential for further development, strategy and ability to cooperate will play a crucial role in future.
In this track the attention should therefore be directed in particular to two fields of cooperation: The development of national and international cooperation between environmental technology enterprises, municipalities and research institutions for the promotion of radical innovations. Another direction would be questions of cooperation concerning ecological topics of global urbanisation, ecological construction, water, waste and energy management in towns and communities. Moreover innovative co-operations, public-private partnerships and projects of towns, communities and enterprises, in particular also from California and Austria will be present.
